Hypnosis and three most commonly witnessed types
You must have heard people saying that they eat as if they are in a trance. Trance is a situation of highly focused attention. By inducing this state, you can easily handle different problems. The process of inducing this trance is known as hypnosis.
Hypnosis has always been a topic involving a lot of controversies. It is because of controversies that you can not find doctors and other medical professionals using hypnosis techniques on a daily basis. There are many countries where you can not find a hypnotherapist and that is the reason why people are still unaware of the benefits associated with hypnosis.
Types of hypnosis:
To learn hypnosis, you will have to do a lot of research. Actually, there are several types of hypnosis which are used for different patients. The variation in hypnosis methods can be seen on regular basis as different patients may require different techniques, which may be, according to their personality. Although, there are many hypnosis books and videos available for people to learn the art from, it is not as simple as it looks.
As mentioned, types of hypnosis are extensive, but you can still divide them in to three main categories; Traditional hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Ericksonian hypnosis. A brief introduction of all three types is as mentioned below.
Traditional hypnosis: If you have participated in a show to see a display of stage hypnosis, then it will not be difficult for you to understand the concept of traditional hypnosis. Traditional hypnosis, actually, is all about those old techniques that are available for free. It means that these are the basic hypnosis techniques, but these old and new techniques have evolved to take their place. The most visible thing here will be the use of traditional and fairly simple hypnosis scripts.
Ericksonian hypnosis: Apparently, it is thought that Ericksonian hypnosis is all about using same traditional techniques, but there are surely some differences. The most perceptible difference is about using different methods of suggestion. Here, you will find a therapist using certain hypnosis stories to induce a hypnotic state. Using stories with a hidden meaning is supposed to be a better way of influencing the patient’s mind as compared to traditional hypnosis. These suggestions are also known as indirect suggestions.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP hypnosis: There have been constant developments in the concept of hypnosis. The most recent improvement is in the form of NLP hypnosis. Although, NLP is interrelated with hypnosis, but, there are experts who don’t take it as a form of hypnosis. Actually, it tells of the way how the mind works and hypnosis is all about the working and manipulation of mind and generated messages.
Apart from these basic categories, there are people who divide it in other categories like group hypnosis, individual hypnosis and self hypnosis. It is all about the way different experts use hypnosis to achieve different tasks. However, the fact remains that learning hypnosis is no picnic as it is intense than it appears to be. But, if you really want to see some changes in your life, then you have to change your thinking pattern which can only be done by hypnosis.
